To: My littlest angel, Heaven
AHH! HEAVEN
This morning God and I spoke about Heaven and the joy that comes with knowing Heaven. Not Heaven as in our eternal destination; but our little godchild- the youngest of the bunch. Heaven is 13 months old and is sooo cuddly. She's a cutie in her own right! Okay, I'm just a little biased, but she really is adorable.
Heaven came to live with us at 2 months of age. Her mother entrusted her in our care. Each aspect of this bears the signature of GOD.
God shared that he would be a father to the fatherless and a mother to the motherless. He chose Tony and I to be his representation in Heaven's life. We are blessed because of it.
Heaven is a funny outgoing child. She likes to celebrate with uplifted arms and has gleefulness in her claps. Hmm.. she appears to be a praiser. Heaven is an example to us, despite the rough course of her little life she still gives God praise.
Heaven loves to shower us with wet kisses and loves to snuggle in a blanket. She lies securely in my arms and rest. Sort of what God wants us to do when the storms of life arise.
Hmm.. Heaven, I smile when I think of her pseudo temper tantrums when she' s got to have whatever it is- we don't give in because we know whats best for her. God shared that this is like our relationship with him. He closes some doors because it is simply not best for us.
While caring for Heaven and meeting her needs I've learned more about Agape love. Unconditional love. She may never understand the totality of what we did, or the sacrifice but hopefully will recognize it was a matter of the heart. Reminding me of Calvary and Christ's decision to die for us. Who would have thought by one selfless act another could gain eternal life.
My baby is a joy. She helped me to better understand the barrenness I felt after a life changing surgery and serious ministerial hurts.
Heaven gave me hope that God still fulfills his promises, he is still the giver of life and joy. He gives Beauty for Ashes.
She opened up areas that I shut away in my barren state and said that's it -I'm locking this emotional attachment stuff up!! No one will enter here again. However, Heaven just like God has an uncanny way of getting in the cracks and crevices, finding little objects that the naked eye can't see, making you smile, and touching your heart. Oh The joy of knowing Heaven! I wouldn't trade it for the world. She is outright angelic - you'll see just take one look at that smiling face.
Love,
Ninah

I love this blog, you should've attached a picture on the bottom with one of her big smiles. That's beautiful.
